Novamox Mixture 125 mg / 5ml 30 ml
The active pharmaceutical ingredient contained in Novamox Mixture is Amoxicillin. Novamox is used to treat infections due to organisms that are susceptible to the effects of amoxicillin. Common infections that Amoxicillin is used for include infections of the middle ear, tonsils, throat, larynx (laryngitis), bronchi (bronchitis), lungs (pneumonia), urinary tract, and skin. It also is used to treat gonorrhea. Amoxicillin is in a class of medications called penicillin-like antibiotics. It works by stopping the growth of bacteria. Antibiotics will not work for colds, flu, and other viral infections.
Follow the directions on your prescription label carefully, and ask your doctor or pharmacist to explain any part you do not understand. Take Novamox Mixture exactly as directed. Do not take more or less of it or take it more often than prescribed by your doctor. Shake the liquid and pediatric drops well before each use to mix the medication evenly. Use the bottle dropper to measure the dose of pediatric drops. The pediatric drops and liquid may be placed on a child's tongue or added to formula, milk, fruit juice, water, ginger ale, or other cold liquid and taken immediately.
Take Novamox Mixture until you finish the prescription, even if you feel better. Stopping Novamox Mixture too soon may cause bacteria to become resistant to antibiotics. Novamox Mixture also is used sometimes to prevent anthrax infection after exposure and to treat anthrax infection of the skin and chlamydia infections during pregnancy. Talk with your doctor about the possible risks of using this medication for your condition.
Before taking Novamox Mixture, tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are allergic to it; or to penicillin or cephalosporin antibiotics; or if you have any other allergies. Novamox Mixture should be used only when clearly needed during pregnancy. Discuss the risks and benefits with your doctor. Novamox Mixture is secreted into breast milk in small amounts. The potential risk is for sensitisation and skin rash in the child.Consult your doctor before breast-feeding.
Before using Novamox Mixture, tell the doctor or pharmacist your medical history, especially of: kidney disease, other infections (e.g., mononucleosis). This medicine may contain aspartame. This medication should be used only when clearly needed during pregnancy. Discuss the risks and benefits with your doctor. Novamox passes into breast milk. Consult your doctor before breast-feeding.
