Hostacycline containing the active ingredient Tetracycline is considered a tetracycline antibiotic type of medication, which is commonly used to treat acne. Hostacycline works by stopping the spread and growth of bacteria, which makes it effective at treating acne caused by bacteria. It is also widely used to treat different types of bacterial infections, such as gonorrhoea, chlamydia, urinary tract infections, rocky mountain spotted fever, lyme disease, prevention of anthrax and many other bacterial illnesses.
Before you begin treatment with Hostacycline, it is necessary to visit your doctor for a medical consultation. The exact amount prescribed depends on the condition you are treating. In the majority of cases, patients are told to take it 2 to 4 times per day, on an empty stomach. This means that you can take your dose 1 hour prior to a meal or 2 hours after eating. Doctors advise against taking Hostacycline with food, especially foods which contain dairy products, as this may prevent the absorption of the medicine. Remember that you need to continue taking it until you have finished your prescription.
Hostacycline may cause unwanted side effects such as: If your doctor has prescribed Hostacycline for you to treat a bacterial infection, it is worth noting that some side effects may occur, such as: stomach upset, skin discolouration, vaginal or rectal itching, sores noticeable in the mouth or on the lips, sensitivity of the skin to sunlight resulting in sunburn.

Prior to beginning treatment with this medication, patients must inform their doctor if they have a history of diseases affecting the kidneys, liver disease, difficulty swallowing, hiatal hernia or gastroesophageal reflux disease. Hostacycline can cause permanent staining of the teeth if used by children under 8 years of age. For this reason, doctors will not normally prescribe it for use in young children.
Seek immediate emergency medical attention if you suffer an allergic reaction. Symptoms to watch for, which may be indicative of a reaction, include skin rashes, hives, swelling of the face or limbs, trouble breathing, and trouble swallowing.
